Grabbing five minutes (okay maybe ten) to do a little sneak peak of Collections "Antiquing Tissue". Comes in two styles, Victorian and Melange. I have always wanted to manufacture tissue for the last several years, particularly because I like to use dress makers patterns in my creations. The ease of applying it to odd shapes and "inside" areas of boxes and the like make tissue a really fun thing to use. The hard part was getting someone here in Perth to print it as it is not the sort of thing you generally put through an offset printing machine. Because of the nature of tissue it's so fragile - not an easy thing to do. Thankfully I have had it printed the conventional way on a very special kind of tissue. I say that because it is not the same type of as dress makers pattern tissue, it's super strong and the best part about it is you can colour it the way you want to. So you can "Antique" it with lots of things that you will already have at home or in your crafting cupboard.
As you can see from the sample above I have 'antiqued' the tissue in different shades of tea and added a touch of red colouring to the top piece. As you add a second and third piece, dilute your tea. Actually by wetting the tissue it makes it even stronger when dry, sounds weird but it actually does, so if you want the tissue white still wet it and allow to dry. You can colour it any shade to match your project using any number of re inkers, (water based ones) food colouring or you could add some misting power to get different tones on the one sheet. Or if you want to like I do, make a big batch of really strong tea. I use Dilmar Extra Strength teabags and pop the tissue in to make different shades of that colour, usually three. Add the tissue (fold it in half first) into a flat container whilst the water is quite warm as it takes less time to colour it. Fold it in half again before you peg it to the clothesline to dry!

Once dry you have some lovely crispy tissue (when you try it you will know what I mean!) you can do so many things to add it into your latest creations.... here is a pic of some little flowers.
Join me tomorrow for another update on the Collections Antiquing Tissue and what you can do with this amazing product. It comes three sheets to a pack and will be in the stores in May. Thanks for looking......
PS Perth store owners will get to try out this versatile product in person on Friday or Saturday at my place here in Darch, hope to see you then.
