Blood Red Lunar Eclipse 16th June 2011

I stayed up really late (early??) to get this photo of the lunar eclipse taken at 4.40am. Perth had some cloud cover so I was lucky even to get this photo in the early hours with my new camera. I don't really know how to use it properly so this is the best I could get with the lens I was using EF-S 55-250mm, (I really need to read the manual). This is the longest eclipse this decade and WA had the best opportunity to view it.The next such eclipse will take place only in 2141. It's also one of the darkest eclipses on record. When I first went outside to find the moon it was really cloudy and I couldn't see anything so I waited a while longer and just between the clouds there it was....yay!
A short while later about 5.13am I took this photo. It was really spectacular and I was glad I stayed up to see this eclipse.

Did you stay up to see it?

Great pics! We got up early and sat on our back deck (facing west) for a great view - it was awfully cold, though!
